We know it needs to be done, but there isn’t always enough time to do that much cleaning. If you’ve kept your Tampa home relatively clean all year long, you can get your spring cleaning done without a lot of extra effort. Check out our tips to get your cleaning done a little faster this year.

  1. Do a quick shake or sweep of your front door mat. Beating it on the walkway can loosen caked on dirt. That and running a broom over the front entry can do wonders to make your front door look more inviting.

  2. Shampoo carpets without moving all the furniture around. You can target high traffic areas only or shift the furniture a little. Open the windows to help the carpets dry faster.

  3. Apply a wax sealer to floors to protect from wear and tear, keep it shiny, and help later cleanings go a little faster.

  4. Quickly sponge down walls, cabinets, and baseboards. Use one bucket for soapy water, and one for clean. Dry the area with a clean cloth.

  5. Wipe down ceiling fans, light fixtures, and AC vents. You may need a special extended reach tool for high ceilings and hard to reach areas.

  6. Clean your refrigerator coils with a bottle brush and a vacuum with an attachment hose. This helps your fridge run more efficiently.

  7. Wash your exterior windows on an overcast, non-windy day. The sun can cause streaks, and wind blows everything around making cleaning more difficult.

  8. Clean your curtains and drapes with a hand-steamer so you don’t have to take them down.

  9. Refresh your mattress by sprinkling baking soda through a sieve over the entire thing. The baking soda will soak up dirt and oils. Re-make your bed over the baking soda and vacuum up the excess baking soda when you change your sheets the next time.

  10. Rub fabric upholstery with a hydro dry-cleaning sponge and then run a lint roller over the cushions and furniture.

  11. Wipe down non-wood patio furniture with a damp cloth or use a microfiber cloth with wood cleaner for furniture made of wood. You’ll get a quick clean up without a lot of effort.

Spring cleaning is a great time to get rid of old things you don’t want and to liven up your Tampa Bay home. Even better, you don’t have to spend all your time getting it done if you know a few tricks.

Now that you’ve tackled spring cleaning, do you realize you’re ready to move up or down this year? We can help!
