Where to Get a Great Burger in Tampa Bay
When you’re craving real meat, real cheese, and real toppings, take a look at some of the best places in Tampa Bay to get a burger.

With locations all over Florida, notably in Tampa, Brandon, and St. Pete, you don’t have to go far for a great burger from Square 1. You’ll find the standard bacon cheeseburger and the “All-American” but you should go for the gourmet options you can’t find anywhere else. The Drunken Pig and Bull is a burger piled high with onion rings and pulled pork. Try the Rise and Shine with a fried egg over your burger with caramelized onions and gruyere cheese on a brioche bun. Best of all, their burgers are all natural, free of hormones and antibiotics, and humanely-raised.

Who doesn’t love a burger and a shake, right? Head over to Burger 21 in Westchase, Carrollwood, or New Tampa, and you can have exactly that. These aren’t your typical burgers and shakes, either. Try the Bayou Burger made with andouille sausage and turkey, topped with blackened shrimp and remoulade sauce. When your mouth starts burning, take a sip of the Salted Caramel Pretzel Shake to cool off.

Want a show with your burger? Check out Hamburger Mary’s in Tampa or Clearwater where you can enjoy the “Dining with the Divas” drag show, have fun with karaoke, or help out a local charity during their fundraising events. You might stay for the show, but it’s the burger that you go for. Try something traditional or go a little wild and crazy. The Mac Daddy is a burger topped with mouth-watering macaroni and cheese or if you’ve got a big appetite, try the Get it Girl-led - two hamburger patties between three grilled cheese sandwiches (with bacon and onions, too!).

You probably already knew you could get tacos on a food truck, but what about burgers? Burger Culture is Tampa’s first burger truck, and it’s one you don’t want to miss. Most of the time you’ll find it at the Harley Davidson store on Dale Mabry. Wherever it is when you see it, go wild and try something you’ve never had before like the Waffle Burger - a burger with goat cheese, blueberry compote, a bit of honey, and in between two belgium waffles.

When you’re ready for beer and a burger, head down South Howard in Tampa or over to Trinity in New Port Richey to BurgerFi. You’ll get an amazing, hormone and antibiotic-free burger plus local craft beer to go with it. If you’re not a beer drinker, try a shake or custard instead. What kind of burger should you try? The CEO isn’t for the timid. The burger is a blend of double Wagyu and brisket, and it comes with homemade candied bacon-tomato jam, truffle aioli, and swiss cheese. That’s a burger that will make you feel like a boss.
Thee Burger Spot
Located in south Seminole Heights on Tampa St., this burger spot has all the fixin's and they ain't playin'! Their most wanted burger, "The Glazed One", only available on Fridays, is a quarter pound of beef topped with cheese and bacon and loaded on a hot and ready Krispy Kreme donut. Sweet & Savory! Other gourmet burgers include the "Pizza Burger", "Taco Burger" and even a peanut butter topped one called "The Creamy One". Not into the kooky kinds? Traditional toppings are available as well as chicken and fish versions if you need a break from beef.
